November 19, 2024December 15, 2024 Beautiful Mugs by Zahava Friedman Zahava Friedman is a ceramic artist based in Western Massachusetts. Her work often draws inspiration from nature, reflecting her deep connection to the outdoors. She specializes in creating functional art pieces that merge form and intricate surface design, particularly using the sgraffito technique, where designs are scratched through layers of colored slip to reveal contrasting backgrounds. Friedman began her journey with ceramics as a child at the Rhode Island School of Design. Later studied the craft at Guilford College. She has been active in clay communities on both the East and West Coasts. Her artistry emphasizes both the tactile joy of working with clay and the possibility of making functional items into personal expressions of art. Zahava is also a speech and language therapist and hopes to someday combine her passions by offering therapeutic clay workshops for children. Her pottery can be explored on her website, Inner Light Pottery. For more, you can visit her gallery and shop at Inner Light Pottery.
